Mayor Dwayne Hajek

Mayor Dwayne Hajek is no stranger to the City of Waller. He has lived in the Waller area for 43 years, attended Waller schools throughout his childhood, and graduated from Waller High School in 1981. When asked about running for Mayor this last term, he explained, "When an empty seat became available, I was glad to accept the role.

"When Mayor Marburger announced that he would not seek re-election," he continued, "I prayerfully considered running.

"After seeking the advice of wise men and women from the city, I decided to run for office. I believe that I had the qualities needed to lead this city forward into this new and exciting time of growth," he explained.

"I have always believed in the process of election, and decided to let the people have a choice in whom they wanted to lead them."

Mayor Hajek works at Baker Oil Tools, and has been there for 23 years. He has been in management for the last nine years after attending numerous management training courses, and is currently a Quality Control Supervisor.

The Mayor is also a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister, and has also served in the Waller Fire Department for the last 22 years. At this time, the Mayor is serving as Vice-President and has also been a Captain for the last seven years. Previous to being Vice-President, the Mayor srved as the President. He is also the Chairman of the 100 Club Fireman Selection Committee.

Mayor Hajek and his wife, Denise, have been married for 22 years, and have one daughter and two sons. Their daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Josh Wood, both graduated from Waller High School and the University of Houston, and have a daughter, Shawn. The Mayor and his wife also have a son, Austin, who served his country in the Marines after graduating from Waller High School, and currently lives in Houston. The Hajek family homeschools their youngest son Michael, who is 13 years old. Michael participates in the Praise and Worship team in church and he is also involved in rock climbing.

"It has always been a dream of mine to serve the city that is such a great part of my heritage."
