Waller ISD Homecoming!
October 9, 2009

The City of Waller participated in the Waller ISD Homecoming activities this year by providing a flyover at the game.  Sponsors making this possible for the city were:

All Car Auto Care
Coldwell Banker
Fourrier Family Dentistry, P.C.
Lone Star Lube and Wash, L.P.
Western Rock, LLC
Whatley Construction

A special thanks to these businesses for making this flyover possible for the 2009 Homecoming activities for the Waller ISD.

The Aircraft performing this event were from the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing, located in San Marcos, TX.

The CenTex Wing aircraft performed two passes during the event.  The first formation was the "diamond", so called for the shape the aircraft make when flown in these positions.  This formation makes it easy to maneuver four aircraft as one.  The second formation was the "missing man", where the number three aircraft pulls up, out of the formation, and turns to the West, symbolizing the airman who has died, while the remaining aircraft continue on, leaving his position in the formation empty.

Leading the evening’s flight was a yellow World War II Navy SNJ "Texan" trainer, owned by Col. Rich Ferguson and flown by Col. Grant Lannon of Austin, Texas.  Grant served as a Forward Air Controller during the Viet Nam war, flying the O-1 and O-2 aircraft.  Rich retired as a Colonel with the Air Force reserve, flying the C-5 out of Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Flying the #2 position, to the left of the lead airplane, in his blue Chinese built CJ-6A was Col. Harold Middleton of Austin, Texas.

In the number three position, to the right of the lead airplane, flying his blue and white Air Force T-34A Mentor was Col. Joe Enzminger of Austin, Texas.  Joe took the evening's "Missing Man" position.

Flying the gray and red SNJ "Texan" in the number four, or Slot position, was Col. Terry Adams of Boerne, Texas.  Terry is retired from Snap-On Tools, which sponsors his plane.

For the second pass, the "missing man" formation was performed.  Terry maneuvered his plane to the outside right position, and had the challenge of maintaining his position after the number three man departs the formation.
